After releasing the One UI 5.1 update to the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Fold 4, Samsung has released the update to the Galaxy Z Fold 2. This is the oldest Galaxy Z Fold series smartphone that’s eligible to get the One UI 5.1 update.

The One UI 5.1 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is rolling out with firmware version F916BXXU2JWB5. The update is now live in Europe, starting with Germany, and we expect other European countries to get the update within the next few days. Other regions could get the One UI 5.1 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 shortly.

If you have a Galaxy Z Fold 2 and if you live in Germany, you can install the One UI 5.1 update on your phone right away by navigating to Settings » Software update and clicking on Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

What’s new with Galaxy Z Fold 2 One UI 5.1 update?

The new update also brings the February 2023 security patch that fixes over four dozen security vulnerabilities. One UI 5.1 brings improved image editing with automatic shadow and reflection remover, Shared Family Album, the ability to change selfie color tones easily, and Expert RAW shortcut in the stock camera app. The update also brings improved search in the Gallery app along with the ability to view and edit EXIF information of images and videos.

The One UI 5.1 update also makes minimizing or maximizing app window size easier by dragging its corners. In split-screen multitasking mode, frequently used apps are displayed first. Samsung DeX gets improved window resizing in the split-screen mode with the help of the divider. The Weather app now shows all the important information without scrolling. It also shows hourly precipitation information and has a new dynamic widget.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2’s new software update also brings battery widgets, improved search within Samsung Internet, and the ability to access recently browsed Samsung Internet tabs on the phone using a Windows PC. The Smart Suggestions widget now shows playlists and music recommendations from Spotify. The phone now lets you choose the folder where you want screenshots to be saved.
