On July 4, an image of what looked like the official spec sheet for the upcoming foldable leaked online, and it listed the display technology for the cover display as IPS, which unsurprisingly drew the ire of fans. But it appears the Samsung employee that created that leaked spec sheet made a typo.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 cover display is expected to be identical to that of the Galaxy Z Flip 5. It will have a 3.4 inch diagonal, the same folder-like shape, and a 60Hz refresh rate. At least one competing Chinese foldable sports a high refresh rate for the cover display, but Samsung is likely keeping that upgrade for later.
However, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will bring notable upgrades in other areas. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and has 8GB and 12GB RAM variants, a 50-megapixel primary rear camera, and a 4,000 mAh battery (300 mAh larger than the Flip 5).
On the software front, the Z Flip 6 will run Android 14 and One UI 6.1.1 out of the box. Samsung has added some new Galaxy AI features that will probably come to existing devices through a software update. We also expect the Fold 6 and Flip 6 to be eligible for seven years of OS and security updates.
Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 6 on July 10 in Paris.
