The Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic bring many improvements over the older models, such as a larger and brighter display, a faster processor, and longer battery life. The two new smartwatches offer another tiny improvement that many people are overlooking, and that's the ‘One-Click' connecting mechanism on the new wristbands.
So, how does the new attachment system work, and more importantly, is it compatible with older Galaxy Watch models?
Straps for older Galaxy Watch models (Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5) have a tiny lever that you can slide to attach the band to the smartwatch or remove it from the wearable. This little lever was hard to access, making it difficult for people to change bands on these smartwatches.
The straps that come with the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic have a button you can push to attach the band to the smartwatch or remove it from the wearable. The button on the new straps is much easier to use than the lever on the bands for the older models. Plus, pressing a button is easier than sliding a lever. As a result, the new attachment system is much easier and faster to use than the old connecting mechanism.
As for backward compatibility, the pins on the new straps that attach to the smartwatch are the same as those on straps with the older attachment system. That means the One-Click band mechanism is backward compatible with the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 5. As such, Samsung has decided to offer all the new bands with the new attachment system, and all those straps will be compatible with the Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Watch 6.
Speaking of new bands, Samsung has launched the Fabric Band. It features the One-Click mechanism, which is compatible with the Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Watch 6. The new band, as the name suggests, is made up of fabric and has a velcro loop design that keeps it securely in place. This band has been designed to offer more comfort compared to other straps. Samsung has priced it at $49.99, and it is available in four colors: Black, Blue, Sand, and Lavender.
