Two days ago, Samsung released the stable One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S23 series, but it was limited to South Korea. Today, the company has started rolling out the update outside of South Korea.
The stable One UI 8.5 update, based on Android 16, is currently available for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and the Galaxy S23 Ultra in Europe and India. It could be released to all Galaxy S23 series users across all the countries in the next few days.
This new update comes bearing firmware version S91xBXXU9FZDP and has a download size of over 4GB for non-beta testers and 300MB for beta testers.

If you have a Galaxy S23 series phone and live in the countries or regions mentioned above, you can check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software update and tapping Download and install. If the update is available, it will start downloading the required files. Once the download is finished, tap the Install now button to start the installation process. This will take a few minutes, and your phone will restart.
Make sure to have at least 30% battery charge left in your phone before you start installing the update.
This update brings lots of new features, improved stock One UI apps, and a slightly refreshed UI design language. It brings a completely customizable Quick Panel, a new Device Care menu design, and upgraded Bixby that can understand natural language. Bixby now also features Perplexity integration to bring you relevant information from the internet and a conversation history section.
It also brings continuous image generation in the Galaxy AI-powered Photo Assist image editor. The phone gets three new portrait filters for the camera. It also gets automatic layout for the lock screen wallpaper so that it can adapt to widgets on the screen and objects or people in the wallpaper. There are some new animated wallpapers and more lock screen clock widget font styling options.
The new software brings weather background effects for the alarm screen and a timezone converter in the Clock app. Other features include Direct Voicemail, Storage Share, Auto Hotspot, Family Device Sharing, enhanced Auracast features, and shortcuts for favorite Smart View devices.
Unfortunately, the update doesn't bring AirDrop support in Quick Share. Hopefully, the feature will be released with a future software update.
