Earlier this month, Samsung released the much-awaited Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update to the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which brought the April 2025 security patch as well. Now, the South Korean tech giant is rolling out another software update to these smartphones. It offers the May 2025 security patch, which fixes these security issues (via Tarun Vats).
For now, the brand has made the update available only for the international variants of the Galaxy S22 phones in India (model numbers SM-S901E, SM-S906E, and SM-S908E). It carries firmware version S90xEXXSCFYE3. To get it, go to Settings » Software update » Download and install. We expect Samsung to release it to other variants and in other countries in the next few days.
Samsung delayed rolling out One UI 7 a lot. However, the brand isn’t expected to repeat the mistake with its upcoming Android 16-based One UI 8.0. In fact, it will come much sooner than usual. That’s because Google is expected to release Android 16 almost three months earlier than usual. Plus, Samsung wants to make up for the delayed One UI 7 rollout by releasing One UI 8 early.
For those of you who are wondering if the Galaxy S22 series is eligible for Android 16-based One UI 8.0, it is. You can check out the list of devices eligible for the update here. Along with it, Samsung is also developing Wear OS 6-based One UI 8.0 Watch for Galaxy Watches. If you have a Galaxy Watch, you can look forward to one more major software update from Samsung.
