Samsung has already rolled out the January 2023 security patch to the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. Today, the three phones are getting another software update in the US, and according to the changelog, it improves the security of these devices. Typically, it would mean that the firmware contains a new security patch, which, in this case, would be the one for February 2023. However, that isn’t what the new software update offers.

The new update for the Galaxy S21 series carries over the same January 2023 security patch that the previous software update had offered. However, it claims to improve the security of these devices. Currently, there are no details about what kind of security enhancements the new software update brings. These kinds of security updates are rare but not totally unheard of. The Galaxy S21 FE received a similar update last year.

The latest software update for the Galaxy S21 series is rolling out to international variants and carrier-unlocked models in the US. The new firmware for the international variants carries version G99XBXXS5DWA4, and it is currently rolling out in India. The new firmware for carrier-unlocked models in the US comes with version G99XU1UES5DWA4.

If your smartphone hasn’t notified you about the update yet, you can check for it manually. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update and click on Download and install. Alternatively, you can also download the firmware from our database section and flash it manually.
