So what's next for Google, as far as drawing inspiration from Samsung goes? Well, much like Samsung, Google recently decided to no longer offer a wall charger along with its flagship phones.
The company told The Verge that the Pixel 5A is the last in the series to include a wall charger in the box, meaning that the upcoming Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro won't ship with this accessory.
Jokes aside, it's unfair to draw a parallel between Samsung and Google in regards to the latter company's decision to remove the charger from future Pixel phones. In fairness, Apple was the first company to remove the wall charger from the retail boxes of the iPhone 12 series last year, arguing that most customers already own a wall charger, so removing this accessory from retail boxes will help the environment.
Samsung follows the same philosophy ever since it launched the Galaxy S21 series in January without a charger in the box, and Google is backing its decision using the same narrative as Apple and Samsung.
Regardless of who started the trend, it's clear that it's becoming an industry-wide movement, so if you are thinking of abandoning your favorite brand — Samsung — because of its recent decision to remove the wall charger from flagship retail boxes, you might want to reconsider. Your next brand of choice could be adopting the same strategies.
