When Samsung unveiled the original Freestyle projector in January 2022, we thought it was probably the company's most fun product at CES 2022. A year later, Samsung announced the 2nd Gen Freestyle with improved features, and months later, the device went up for pre-order.

The pre-order window for The Freestyle 2nd Gen ended not long ago, and you can now buy it outright from Samsung's online shop for $799. Should you? Well, it's up to you, but here are five reasons why you should at least consider it.

Story continues after the video

Five reasons why The Freestyle 2nd Gen is worth buying

It's portable

The Freestyle 2nd Gen is a highly portable projector. Not only is it relatively lightweight at 1.8lb (0.8 kg), but it can be connected to a battery accessory that allows you to travel with the device and take your entertainment with you anywhere you go.

It's highly versatile

The Freestyle 2nd Gne is one of the most fun projectors to use because of its versatility. You can have it project images on your wall or ceiling, and you can even buy an accessory for bulb sockets that lets you hang The Freestyle from the ceiling like a lightbulb and have it project images on your floor or table. It could be a fantastic asset for tabletop gaming.

Smart Edge Blending

Smart Edge Blending technology is for prospective buyers with deep pockets, but it is a really cool feature. It lets you combine two Freestyle 2nd Gen projectors and create a single ultra-wide image of up to 160 inches in diagonal.

A built-in speaker and Voice Assistants

Being portable by nature, it's no surprise that The Freestyle 2nd Gen has a built-in speaker, even though many projectors do not. And although the internal speaker won't replace your home theater, Samsung claims it offers immersive and astounding 360-degree sound.

In addition, The Freestyle 2nd Gen is as smart as any other smart TV, so it supports Alexa Voice Assistant out of the box.

Gaming Hub support

One of the upgrades that separates the 2nd Gen Freestyle from the original model is that the 2023 release supports Gaming Hub.

This turns your Freestyle projector into a cloud-based gaming machine. Think about it. All you need is The Freestyle 2nd gen and a controller. No TV, monitor, or gaming console is needed to take your games with you wherever you go. Once again, The Freestyle 2nd Gen is proving its versatility.
