It is widely reported that Samsung will hold an event on July 22, 2026, to unveil its next-generation foldable smartphones. Apple is also expected to enter the foldable smartphone market with the iPhone Ultra this year. The company could launch it about a month after the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series.

A report from Bloomberg claims that Apple is planning to announce its first foldable iPhone according to its usual launch schedule. The company typically unveils new iPhones on the first Tuesday or Wednesday after Labor Day. Based on that timeline, Apple could unveil the iPhone Ultra on September 8 or 9. Alongside the iPhone Ultra, Apple is also expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

All three phones could go on sale later that month. Since the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra are expected to go on sale in August, the iPhone Ultra and the iPhone 18 Pro series would arrive about a month after Samsung’s new foldables.

The iPhone Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 are rumored to feature wide foldable displays, dual rear cameras consisting of wide and ultrawide lenses, a punch hole cutout for the front-facing camera, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. The foldable iPhone is also rumored to feature a much bigger battery, reportedly 5,400mAh or larger, compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s rumored 4,800mAh battery.
