Two weeks ago, the Galaxy S21 became one of the first phones in the world to get the August 2022 security update. However, the update was limited to international variants of the high-end smartphone. Now, one of the US variants of the Galaxy S21 has started getting the new security update.

Galaxy S21 August 2022 security update: What's new?

The latest software update for the carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra comes bearing firmware version G99xUSQU5CVGB. The update brings the August 2022 security patch that fixes dozens of security vulnerabilities, including the ones related to Samsung DeX, MAC address leaks, and more. It also includes general bug fixes and device stability improvements.

The new software is currently available on Sprint and T-Mobile's networks. Samsung could expand the update's reach to the unlocked versions of the Galaxy S21 in the US over the next few days.

How to install the August 2022 security update on your Galaxy S21?

If you are a Galaxy S21 series smartphone user in the US with a carrier-locked model, you can download the new software update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install.

You can also download the appropriate firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually. Don't forget to backup all the data from your device before starting the manual process, though.
