As scheduled, Apple has made the company’s first mixed-reality headset, the Vision Pro, available to purchase in the United States. You can order one from Apple's official online store.
The Vision Pro is available in three storage variants, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, which cost USD 3,499, USD 3,699, and USD 3,899 respectively. Apple is also giving people an option to add optical inserts. The ZEISS Optical Inserts – Readers cost $99 and the ZEISS Optical Inserts – Prescription cost $149. You can also get Apple Care+ with the MR headset. With all the options, the price of the top-end variant of the Vision Pro crosses the $4,000 mark.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple planned to produce only 60,000 to 80,000 units of the Vision Pro for the launch as the brand expected that not many people would buy the headset as it is a niche and costly product. However, by the end of last month, Apple reportedly gathered 200,000 pre-orders of the Vision Pro, which is much more than what Apple had predicted. As a result, the deliveries of the headset are pre-ordered into March.
Apple has also announced that there will be more than 600 apps on the App Store designed especially for the Vision Pro (or visionOS). Plus, the company will be offering a wide range of 3D movies in the Apple TV app for the headset. So, there will be no shortage of content on the Vision Pro as soon as it starts reaching people. However, if you hadn't pre-ordered the headset, it could take quite a while for you to get your hands on one.
