Do you have a hard time reading a prescription with your doctor's out-of-this-world handwriting? Well, it's not just you; it's a scenario for all people across the world, and who'd be better than Google to come to your rescue? According to recent developments, you will soon be able to use Google's AI translate feature to translate a doctor's scribbled notes.

As per a report, Google is working with pharmacists to create a model that will take the help of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and machine learning to translate hard-to-read handwritten notes, which is something doctors are known to have. Google demonstrated this new AI translate feature during its annual ‘Google for India‘ conference on Monday.

The Google AI translate feature is currently a prototype and not ready for public rollout as of yet. According to the demonstration, users can either take a picture of the prescription or upload one from their photo library. After the upload, the image will be processed, and the app will detect and highlight the medicines mentioned in the uploaded prescription. Google said, “This will act as an assistive technology for digitizing handwritten medical documents by augmenting the humans in the loop, such as pharmacists. However, no decision will be made solely based on the output provided by this technology.

Apart from this AI translate feature, Google also announced that it is working on a single and unified model to cover more than 100 Indian languages for speech and text. This feature would empower millions of Android smartphone users, including Galaxy devices, to join the internet journey in the South Asian market.
