Samsung files for trademark on Gear S in the US

Samsung's wearables family currently has three smartwatches running on Tizen and one running on Google's Android Wear platform, and now the company seems to be working on yet another wearable, as it has filed for a trademark on Gear S in the US. The description for the Gear S is rather broad in that it is a general wearable computer – it's possible the Gear S could be the oft-rumored Gear Solo, which is expected to be a variant of the Gear 2 with a SIM card and cellular connectivity, though we will have to wait for more details to see where it will fit in Samsung's wearables lineup.

It has been rumored that Samsung is planning to launch multiple wearable devices alongside the Galaxy Note 4. We already have extensive info on the Gear VR, a virtual reality headset Samsung is working on with Oculus VR, and we've seen Samsung apply for trademarks on a Gear Now as well, so it should only be a matter of time before we're guessing the Gear S could get officially unveiled at the same time.
