Over the past two weeks, Samsung released the stable Android 13 update to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4. However, the update was limited to Asian and European countries and the US. Now, the South Korean firm has finally released the stable Android 13 update to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in Canada.

The Android 13 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes with firmware version F926WVLU2EVK3 and is available in Canada through all carrier networks. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is getting the stable Android 13 update in Canada with firmware version F936WVLU1BVK3 on all carrier networks. Both phones are getting One UI 5.0 and the November 2022 security patch.

How to update Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Fold 4 to Android 13 (One UI 5.0)?

If you are a Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Galaxy Z Fold 4 user in Canada, you can now download the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update on your phone. You can do that by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the newest firmware file for your phone from our firmware database and flash it manually.

Samsung debuted the Galaxy Z Fold 3 with Android 11-based One UI 3.1.1 software, while the Galaxy Z Fold 4 debuted running Android 12L-based One UI 4.1.1. Both phones are now getting the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update. They are both eligible to get the Android 14-based One UI 6 update sometime late next year.

What's new with the Android 13 update on Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 4?

Android 13-based One UI 5.0 brings a slightly refreshed UI design to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4. There are now more Color Palette options, improved widgets, stacked widgets, more prominent app icons in the notifications area, and a slightly different translucent design in the notifications area. Lockscreen customization has become a lot easier, too, thanks to the new lockscreen editing UI.

Samsung has also added OCR functions across its stock apps, including Camera, Samsung Gallery, and Samsung Keyboard. It lets users extract text from images in the phone or the live camera feed. Built-in image and video editing features have been improved along with the Stories feature. There is separate call background customization for each contact.

The Camera app has also received the watermarking feature and histogram in the Pro mode. Zooming with one finger is easier. There is also support for the telephoto camera in the Food mode. You can draw perfect shapes on images and keep portrait mode even after editing photos. You can also create stickers from any image.

Bixby has received many more features, and Bixby Routines has been renamed Modes And Routines. The Modes And Routines app offers easier starting options for new users. Active Routines can be viewed at a glance. There is also a Smart Suggestions widget that shows various actions after learning your usage pattern. One UI 5.0 also brings new split-screen multitasking gestures.

Samsung DeX has received a mini calendar, a new taskbar, and a new notification indicator. All these enhancements improve the overall DeX experience for better multitasking and productivity. Other One UI 5.0 features include RAM Plus customization, per-app language settings, and warns when sharing personal information like images with credit card numbers.

Google Duo has been replaced with Google Meet, and Google Duo Live Sharing has been replaced with Google Meet Live Sharing. The Settings app now has a new Connected Devices menu that shows all the connected devices and features, including Android Auto, Galaxy Buds Auto Switching, and Samsung DeX. Users can hide notifications while casting the screen on a connected TV.

Samsung has also improved animations, transitions, and UI's overall smoothness and performance. One UI 5.0 also supports Dynamic App Icons, powered by the Material You-based Color Palette feature. More AR Emojis, AR Emoji stickers, and emoji pairs are available. Search performance within stock apps has also improved.
