Samsung users already have access to Galaxy AI and Gemini in the EU, giving them a clear advantage.

Making plans on a phone often involves more than one app. Someone suggests a date in a message, you check your calendar, then look up a place and save the details. The Galaxy Z Fold 8's AI features can help with several of those steps, which is where I find Samsung's approach most useful.
Galaxy AI brings Samsung's own features and partner services such as Gemini into that everyday experience. A briefing can bring useful information forward, a suggestion can respond to the conversation you are having, and an assistant can help turn a request into an action in a supported app.
They do different jobs, but their value is in reducing the work between finding something out and doing something with it.
That particularly matters for European buyers comparing Samsung's foldable over the iPhone Duo. Apple's new Siri AI remains unavailable on iPhones in the EU, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 already offers practical ways to move through those tasks.
The process can start before you open a chat. Now Brief brings together updates such as schedule reminders, giving you a view of what is coming up. Its customizable briefing cards let you adapt the information to your routine, so the starting point is something relevant to your day.

If someone then asks whether you are free on a particular day, Now Nudge can suggest checking your calendar from the conversation in a messaging app.
On the Fold 8's inner screen, tapping the suggestion's split-view shortcut can open the calendar beside the message. You can check the date without losing sight of the question, then decide how to reply.
Once a plan needs more detail, Gemini can help gather information and put it somewhere useful. One example could be asking it to list places mentioned in a YouTube video and save them in Samsung Notes. Rather than pausing the video to copy each location, you can return to the saved list when deciding where to go.
Gemini's connections also support actions in Samsung Calendar and Reminder, alongside services such as WhatsApp and Gmail. With the relevant connections and permissions enabled, you can ask it to create an event, save a reminder or send a message.
Context also matters when you need help understanding something. With screen sharing enabled, Gemini Live can discuss what you are looking at.
If an event page has several ticket options, for example, you can ask about the differences while keeping the page in view. You still need to check the details before booking, but you do not have to copy everything into a separate conversation to ask a question.

The same benefit carries through to photos you want to share afterwards. Photo Assist lets you remove an unwanted object or describe a change with a written prompt, then compare the edited image with the original side by side.
The Fold 8's larger display gives you more room to review the result before keeping it. That check is worth making, because an AI edit can change more than you intended.
You still choose what to share, which suggestion to use, and whether the result is right. The useful connection is that Galaxy AI can help at different points in a familiar task, while the Fold 8's display leaves room to keep the relevant information visible.
Apple's October update expanded Siri AI to more languages, but did not remove its EU restriction on iOS. That leaves iPhone users in the EU without the new assistant and its capabilities.

The value of those connections is the work they save between apps. A request can link information from one service to an action in another, reducing the need to copy details or repeat the same steps yourself. For people who use several different apps throughout the day, that can make the assistant useful across more of their routine.
For buyers in the EU, that gives the Galaxy Z Fold 8 a practical advantage: Galaxy AI experiences, including Gemini, can already carry out supported tasks across connected apps, while Siri AI remains unavailable on iPhones in the region.
The Fold 8's larger display adds room to keep a conversation and calendar side by side or review an edited photo beside the original. Together, those capabilities give the AI features a clear role in everyday use.
