TL;DR

  • Samsung reportedly plans to use Exynos 2700 in most Galaxy S27 models, while the S27 Ultra would stay Snapdragon-only.
  • Internal Samsung tests reportedly put Exynos 2700 ahead of Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 by about 20% in Geekbench 6.5 multi-core.
  • The reported gains are unverified, and real-world performance still depends on heat and power efficiency.

Samsung will reportedly use the Exynos 2700 in all models of the Galaxy S27 series except the Galaxy S27 Utra, which is expected to use the latest Snapdragon chip exclusively.

A new report out of South Korea claims that the Exynos 2700 outperformed the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 in internal tests conducted by the company.

Beats on CPU multi-core performance by 20%, apparently

The report claims that the test was conducted by Samsung in China using the Xioami 18 Pro Max, which is one of the first phones on the market to use Qualcomm's latest flagship chip.

The Exynos 2700 reportedly hit a Geekbench 6.5 score of around 13,000 for CPU multi-core performance, around 20% higher than the approximate score of 11,000 achieved by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme.

Samsung's chip was reportedly 15% ahead on Geekbench 7.0 multi-core performance as well. Exynos 2700's GPU scores are said to be 20% higher than the Snapdragon chip, indicating a significant improvement in the graphics performance.

These numbers have not been independently verified, so it's tough to say for sure how this seemingly significant difference will impact real-world use. How the chip performs on thermal management and power efficiency also remains to be seen.

A recent report suggested that Samsung will use the Exynos 2700 for the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ in most countries globally. The Galaxy S27 Pro will use it some regions, while the Galaxy S27 Ultra will likely use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 extreme globally.
