Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro
Yesterday, Samsung started updating its smartwatches with the August 2026 security patch, with the Galaxy Watch 4 lineup getting it first. Now, the brand has released the latest security update for the Galaxy Watch 5 series.
As usual, the company is rolling it out first in its home country, South Korea. The updates for the Galaxy Watch 5 and the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro carry firmware versions R900XXS2DZG3 and R920XXS2DZG3, respectively.
The August 2026 security patch fixes 56 security issues. We expect Samsung to release it for the Galaxy Watch 5 series in other regions in the next few days. To check its availability and get it, open the Galaxy Wearable app and go to Watch settings > Watch software update > Download and install.
Usually, when Samsung starts rolling out a new security patch to its smartwatches, the tech giant offers it first to the new and high-end models. However, that hasn’t been the case with the August 2026 security patch. The company offered it first to its oldest models eligible for the update, with the latest ones, including Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, still awaiting the update.
