Galaxy A57
The Galaxy A5x series is one of Samsung's most important lineups, so it's hardly surprising to hear that there's going to be a new one next year.
References to the Galaxy A58 have now been spotted alongside those for the Galaxy Xcover FR, which may be a new rugged phone from Samsung.
Samsung typically launches new Galaxy A phones in the first quarter of the year, so we should expect to see the Galaxy A58 arrive at some point early next year.
A listing for the Galaxy A58, bearing model number SM-A5860, has now been spotted in the GSMA IMEI database. When a listing crops up in this database, it is typically one of the earliest indications that development work on a new device is underway.
The same database has also revealed a listing for the Galaxy Xcover FR with the model number SM-G778B. Samsung has launched rugged phones under its Xcover brand before so it won't be surprising at all if the Xcover FR ends up being such a device.
These listings are slim on any other details, so it's unclear at this point in time precisely what Samsung intends to improve upon with the Galaxy A58. If history is any indication, we should expect some chipset improvements, perhaps increased battery life, and better cameras.
First Samsung device: SGH-E900
