Just a few days after rolling out the stable One UI 8.5 update to eligible Galaxy devices, Samsung has announced One UI 9.0. Based on Android 17, the new software introduces additional customization options, improved stock apps, and enhanced privacy and security features.

Let us take a look at the new features Samsung has revealed for One UI 9.0.

One UI 9.0 features

The Quick Panel in One UI 8.5 was already highly customizable, and One UI 9.0 builds on that foundation. It now offers greater control over the layout. You can independently adjust the display brightness, volume, and media player sections, with more size options available to better suit personal preferences.

Samsung has also added more features to the popular Samsung Notes app. It now includes decorative tapes and additional pen line styles, which should appeal to users who rely on it for classroom notes, creative work, or journaling.

The Creative Studio app, which debuted with One UI 8.5, is now integrated directly into the stock Contacts app. This allows you to create personalized profile cards without switching between apps, making the process more convenient.

One UI 9.0 also introduces stronger protection against suspicious apps and potential security threats. When the system detects a high-risk app, it warns the user, blocks the app’s installation or execution, and recommends deleting it.

Accessibility has also been improved in One UI 9.0. The update introduces adjustable Mouse Key speed for smoother cursor control. Google and Samsung have also combined their previously separate TalkBack features on Galaxy devices to deliver a more unified accessibility experience.

The Text Spotlight feature can now display selected text in a larger area or inside a floating window, making content easier to read.

These are just some of the One UI 9.0 features Samsung has announced so far. The company will introduce even more features, including new Galaxy AI capabilities, alongside future high-end Galaxy devices. Those devices will likely be the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8, which are expected to be announced in July 2026.
