Every few months, some Samsung Galaxy smartphones reach the end of their update lifecycle. This month is no different, as Samsung will no longer release software updates for three mid-range phones.
The devices in question are the Galaxy A13, Galaxy A23, and Galaxy M33 5G. All three launched in April 2022 running One UI 4.0 (Android 12), and Samsung supported them with One UI, Android, and security updates for four years.
The Galaxy A13 and Galaxy A23 received two major OS upgrades, with One UI 6 (Android 14) serving as their final major update. The Galaxy M33 5G, meanwhile, received four major OS upgrades, the last of which was One UI 8 (Android 16).
Owners of the Galaxy M33 5G were probably hoping the phone would get One UI 8.5 before riding off into the sunset, but clearly, that’s not happening. Going forward, these devices will no longer receive updates unless a serious security vulnerability is discovered, which is quite rare.
If you own a Galaxy A13, Galaxy A23, or Galaxy M33 5G and software updates are important to you, it may be time to consider an upgrade. Samsung’s latest mid-range phones are now eligible for up to six years of software support, including six major Android and One UI upgrades.
