Introduction
The Galaxy M33 5G is an M series phone that brings many of the features from the Galaxy A33 5G and the Galaxy A53 5G to a more palatable price point. It shares specs such as the 5nm Exynos 1280 chip with those devices while also featuring modern features like a 120Hz display and 5G connectivity as standard.
Design
The Galaxy M33 5G comes with the traditional Galaxy smartphone design, naturally with a few changes that set it apart from phones in the Galaxy A series. The front is covered by a notched display while the rear is made of plastic, albeit with a stunning finish that's also a fingerprint magnet. It comes in a range of different colors, including Deep Ocean Blue, Mystique Green, and Emarald Brown.
Specifications
The Galaxy M33 5G has quite the powerful hardware under the hood, with Samsung's 5nm Exynos 1280 processor running things behind the scenes along with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable internal storage.
It features a 6,000 mAh battery, which is huge and right in line with what one expects from most Samsung Galaxy M series phones. There's support for 25W charging, although Samsung doesn't provide a charger or earphones in the box, only a USB-C cable. The device does, however, have a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Display and cameras
The Galaxy M33 5G has a 6.6-inch LCD display of Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The 120Hz refresh rate enables fluid animations and scrolling through the user interface and quicker response times in competitive games that support running above 60Hz. Accompanying the display is a single bottom-firing speaker to provide audio for watching YouTube, gaming, and more.
For taking pictures, the Galaxy M33 5G features a 50-megapixel main camera that's accompanied by a 5MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP depth-sensing camera for portrait shots, and a 2MP macro camera. At the front, it has an 8MP camera for taking selfies. Video recording support tops out at 4K@30 fps; a 60 fps recording option is not available on this device.
Software
As pretty much all Galaxy devices launched in 2022, the Galaxy M33 5G is powered by Android 12 and Samsung One UI 4.1, with support for two major OS upgrades over its lifetime and an additional year of security updates.
Release date and price
The Galaxy M33 5G was released in India in early April, 2022, for INR 17,999 for the base model, and eventually made its way to other markets, such as Indonesia.
