In a surprising move, Samsung has released a new software update for the Galaxy S10 series. While this update does not bring any new features or even a newer security patch, it still appears to include an improvement long-time users might appreciate.

New Galaxy S10 update comes two years after the previous one

A new software update with firmware version G97x0ZHU8HZB1 has been released for the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+ in China and Hong Kong. It is a 163MB update, but it does not include a newer security patch. The three phones remain on the February 2023 security patch.

One of our readers claims their Galaxy S10+ “feels snappier and faster when opening menus and applications” after installing the update.

The previous update (firmware version HXE1) for the Galaxy S10 series was released almost two years ago, in June 2024, and it also brought reliability and stability improvements.

For now, the update appears to be available only in China and Hong Kong, but it could expand to other countries in the future. However, there is no guarantee, and it is possible this update will remain limited to those markets.

The phones in the Galaxy S10 series were launched in early 2019 with Android 9 onboard and received the Android 12 (One UI 4.0) update in February 2022. They also received the One UI 4.1 update in May 2022.
