Samsung launched the Galaxy A55 with One UI 6 (Android 14) and promised to offer it four major OS upgrades. The brand already offered it two major OS upgrades, One UI 7 and One UI 8, and it is yet to offer it two more. That means it is eligible to get the company’s latest version of Android customisation, One UI 8.5 (Android 16 QPR2), and now, it looks like the tech giant is planning to open the beta program for the new software for the device.

On Samsung’s server that offers over-the-air updates to the brand's smartphones, the first One UI 8.5 beta build for the Galaxy A55 has been spotted. It carries firmware version A556SKSU7ZZD3 (via Tarun Vats). It suggests that the company could open the One UI 8.5 beta program for the smartphone. It will let users enrolling their phones in it try the new software before the company releases its stable version to everyone.

Compared to One UI 8.0, One UI 8.5 offers a user interface with a new design and many new features. They will make the Galaxy A55 more customisable, more fun to use, and more useful. You can check out all the major upgrades it offers in our video below.

Samsung could run the One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy A55 for a month or two, and then release the stable version of the new software. It means that people who don’t want to take a risk with the beta version of One UI 8.5 will have to wait quite a while to get it.
