Samsung today announced the launch of one of its most affordable 5G phones in the United States, lowering the barrier of entry for those who want to join the Galaxy ecosystem.
The Galaxy A17 5G was launched earlier this year in many parts of the world, and it's now finally making its way Stateside.
The Galaxy A17 5G features a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It's powered by an Exynos 1330 chipset with 4GB RAM and 128/256GB of storage. The device also has a microSD card slot.
It has a chunky 5,000mAh battery and support for 25W super fast charging. The camera setup includes a 13-megapixel selfie sensor alongside a 50-megapixel primary, 5-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor.
The device has an IP54 rating for enhanced durability. Gorilla Glass Victus is used to protect the display while the back is secured with a glass fiber reinforced polymer. Samsung has guaranteed six generations of Android OS and six years of security updates.
The Galaxy A17 5G will go on sale in the United States starting January 7. It will be available at AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Metro, and Samsung Experience Stores in addition to retailers and carriers across the country. The device is offered in black, blue and gray colors for $199.99.
