A few months ago, Samsung launched its first Micro RGB TV (RGB LED backlighting), promising 100% coverage of the BT2020 color gamut. Soon, Chinese TV maker Hisense launched a competing RGB LED TV. But Hisense isn't as popular as Samsung and some other big-name TV brands in the US. It has now been revealed that popular TV brands like LG and Sony are planning to launch their own RGB LED TVs very soon.

LG has announced that it will unveil its flagship LCD TV with an RGB micro-LED backlighting at the CES 2026 expo in January. The TV is called the LG Micro RGB Evo (model number MRGB95). With over 1,000 local dimming zones South Korean firm says its upcoming TV offers a “significant step forward” in picture quality. It uses the Dual AI Engine-based α11 AI Processor Gen 3 for backlight control and 4K content upscaling. It covers 100% of the BT2020 color gamut, and this has been certified by Intertek.

This upcoming TV features a next version of webOS, featuring an AI-powered chatbot and improved personalization. It will be available in 75-inch, 86-inch, and 100-inch sizes. LG will likely reveal more features and specifications about its Micro RGB TV during CES 2026.

We previously reported that Sony is also planning to bring multiple high-end LCD TVs with an RGB LED backlight, and they will likely be unveiled during CES 2026.

In 2026, Samsung's Micro RGB TV will have rivals from big-name brands like LG and Sony. And it looks like the RGB LED TV segment will start heating up next year and it will be interesting to see which TV performs the best and offers a better value for your hard-earned money.
