Samsung has released a software update for one of its rugged smartphones from 2021, the Galaxy XCover 5. It offers the February 2025 security patch, which fixes many security vulnerabilities that you can check out here.
The company is rolling out the update to the variant of the Galaxy XCover 5 that it sells globally, SM-G525F. The update carries firmware version G525FXXSEEYB1. The update is live in the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Europe.
On your Galaxy XCover 5, open Settings, scroll down and tap on Software update, and then select Download and install to get the latest security update. If you don’t see one then it means that Samsung hasn’t released it for your device yet.
In that case, you can either wait for the update to become available for your device or download the firmware from our database (or any other trusted source), install Odin on a Windows PC, and using it, install the firmware on your Galaxy XCover 5.
Samsung launched the Galaxy XCover 5 in 2021 with Android 11. The brand has offered it three new versions of the OS, as it had promised, and the phone is currently running on Android 14-based One UI 6.1. As such, it will not get any more OS upgrades, including Android 15-based One UI 7.
