Samsung's been using the same dual-battery system for the Galaxy Z Flip series ever since the company introduced the first model in February 2020. This year, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is finally getting an upgrade in this area, and the new device promises a bigger battery as well as faster charging.

Every Galaxy Z Flip released to date has had a 3,300mAh dual battery with support for 15W charging. Although the Galaxy Z Flip series is by far the most successful foldable lineup in the world, the relatively poor battery life was one of the biggest complaints that held back the otherwise stellar user experience.

Samsung appears to have finally learned the lesson, and its new Galaxy Z Flip 4, scheduled to hit the shelves in a couple of weeks, rocks a larger 3,700mAh battery with faster charging.

Galaxy Z Flip 4 fixes one of the series’s biggest problems

400mAh can make a huge difference, especially when you go up from a 3,300mAh battery. Nevertheless, Samsung didn't stop here and gave the Galaxy Z Flip 4 another upgrade beyond an extended 3,700mAh capacity.

Instead of topping out at 15W, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 supports 25W super-fast charging, which is more in line with Samsung's other Galaxy devices from the mid-to-high-end segment. The phone should gain up to 50% battery charge in around 30 minutes when using a 25W adapter (sold separately).

Throughout our Galaxy Z Flip 3 review published last year, we learned that the device could provide up to 12 hours of usage on a single charge with an average on-screen time of around 3-4 hours. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 should crush those figures, but we’ll have to test and see.

Wireless charging and reverse wireless charging were deemed less important, and the Galaxy Z Flip 4 borrows the wireless charging coil from the previous model. It tops out at 10W fast wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is now available for pre-order for the starting price of $999 and will hit the shelves on August 26.
