Swiss inspection and certification company SGS has been showering Samsung Display with awards since CES 2022, and it all relates to the Korean tech giant’s QD-OLED display technology unveiled in Las Vegas in January. Samsung announced earlier this year that it received multiple global certifications from SGS for outstanding picture quality, high brightness, wide viewing angles, and accurate colors. And today, SGS handed out a couple more awards to Samsung Display, namely the Eye Care Display and Pro Gaming Verified certificates.

SGS evaluated Samsung’s QD-Display technology at Platinum level, which is the highest rating. Samsung’s QD-Display technology was awarded the Pro Gaming Verified certificate in a handful of areas, including reflectance, refresh rate, viewing angle, light leakage, and color.

According to tests, Samsung’s top-tier panels can achieve a fast 0.1ms response time (gray to gray), and 0.01ms response time (black to white). Combined with 144Hz refresh rate capabilities for TVs and 175Hz capabilities for monitors, Samsung’s QD-Displays raise the bar fairly high.

As for the Eye Care Display certification, it represents that Samsung’s QD-Display technology emits less harmful blue light than alternative 31.5-inch gaming monitor displays.

Samsung-powered Alienware gaming monitor is just around the corner

SGS appears to have certified Samsung’s QD-Display tech and issued the Eye Care Display and Pro Gaming Verified certificates in anticipation of Dell’s imminent unveiling.

Dell Technologies is about to release its curved 34-inch Alienware QD-OLED Gaming Monitor (AW3423DW) in the United States, and you’ve guessed it. It uses a 175Hz QD-OLED panel from Samsung.

The Alienware monitor will be available in the USA starting March 9. It has a 1800R curvature and features a ‘Creator Mode’ that lets content creators to freely specify the DCI-P3 and sRGB color gamuts.
