One UI 4.0 update breaks Google Keep on some Samsung phones

While Samsung's One UI 4.0 rollout has been stellar so far, it has introduced one peculiar bug on one commonly-used note talking app, Google Keep. A handful of Galaxy smartphone owners have noted that the Android 12 update has wreaked havoc on pre-existing numbered lists.

Only a handful of smartphones running One UI 4.0 seem to be affected

9to5google spotted the problem on Google's support forums, which seems to affect devices such as the Galaxy S21, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and Galaxy S20.  I was unable to replicate the bug on my personal Galaxy Note 10+ running One UI 4.0, so it could be restricted to only a handful of models.

As you can see above, the bug causes the digits on numbered lists to replicate themselves many times over. It even happens when tries to interact with the list within Google Keep, effectively wresting control of the keyboard from the user, thereby rendering the whole app unusable at times.

One user states that deleting the numbers manually do nothing and that they come back once the app is restarted. Google has acknowledged the issue on the same thread, but there's no word about a fix. It will very likely arrive via an update to the Google Keep app soon.

In the meanwhile, if you happen to use Google Keep on your Samsung phone, you're better off using it on a browser until Google deploys an official fix. Or you could use Samsung Notes instead, which is just as powerful as Google Keep.
