CES 2022 came and went, but it left us with tons of exciting products to explore and look forward to. One such product was the Samsung Smart Monitor M8. Despite its rather uninspiring name, the Smart Monitor M8 is a beast of an all-in-one monitor powered by none other than the Tizen platform. Mind you, the M8 shouldn't be mistaken for an all-in-one PC because it's a hybrid monitor-TV powered by Tizen OS.

We heard you loud and clear. While Samsung was unveiling its other unique products at CES — such as The Freestyle portable projector — everyone was growing more and more curious about this new monitor unveiled at CES 2022. Thankfully, we got the opportunity to spend some time with the M8 on the show floor, and we've prepared a video to give our fans a closer look at this upcoming product.

Checking the Samsung Smart Monitor M8 in Las Vegas

First things first, let's get the raw specifications out of the way, just in case you missed the original announcement. The Samsung Smart Monitor M8 is a 60Hz 32-inch 4K UHD monitor with a 16:9 aspect ratio and 99% sRGB color coverage.

On the face of it, the Smart Monitor M8 is not nearly as exciting as the bonkers 55-inch Samsung Odyssey Ark, but upon closer inspection, the M8 certainly has a few aces up its sleeve.

Unlike most other monitors, the Smart Monitor M8 is a hybrid device with smart TV functionalities. Indeed, it's powered by the same Tizen platform as Samsung's iconic smart TV lineup, and it even ships with an IR remote. And because it's powered by Tizen OS, Samsung's Smart Monitor M8 also doubles as a SmartThings Hub, providing full compatibility with Samsung's ever-growing IoT ecosystem.

Completing the experience are productivity tools such as Microsoft 365, and a detachable USB-C webcam that provides compatibility with Google Duo. Specs on the webcam are missing as of this writing, but since it's detachable, users will always have the option to upgrade it should the need arise.

Check our Smart Monitor M8 video from CES 2022 to learn more about this hybrid device, and feel free to share your thoughts on this new product from Samsung in the comment section below.
