First post-One UI 6.1 Galaxy Tab S9 update brings April security patch

The One UI 6.1 update started rolling out to flagship Galaxy devices launched in 2023 a little over a week ago, and as owners of every other eligible device wait for news on One UI 6.1, the 2023 flagships are already moving up to newer firmware in some markets.

Last week, the April 2024 security update was released for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. Now, a similar update is available for the Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.

The April security update is rolling out to the Tab S9 series in Korea. It includes the latest security patch and can be identified by a build number that ends with the characters BXD2. We should see other markets getting this update later this week, though it could take a few weeks to reach every user.

If you haven't received One UI 6.1 yet, Samsung may bundle One UI 6.1 and the April security patch in the same update for your country. You can check for new updates on your tablet by opening the Settings app on it, navigating to Software update, and selecting Download and install. You can also download official firmware from our archives.

If you don't own a Galaxy Tab S9 or any other flagship Galaxy tablet or phone that launched last year, the next update for your device will probably bring just a new security patch instead of One UI 6.1. There's a chance some older devices will get One UI 6.1 as early as next week, but Samsung hasn't officially confirmed anything yet so it's better to keep your expectations in check for now.
