Earlier this week, Samsung released the March 2024 security patch for the two international variants and the carrier-locked variant of the Galaxy S21 FE. Now, the company is rolling out the latest security update to the carrier-unlocked version of the smartphone for the US, which carries model number SM-G990U1.

The March 2024 security patch for Samsung’s devices fixes 45 security issues. 36 of them come from Google’s end and 9 come from Samsung’s end. With the new software update, you should see the firmware version change to G990U1UESAFXC1. At the moment, the company has made the update available to devices on AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular, C-Spire, Cellular South, Cricket, Comcast, DISH, MetroPCS, T-Mobile, Tracfone, US Cellular, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile.

To get the latest update, navigate to Settings » Software update » Download and install. You can also download it from our firmware section and install it manually. However, to do that, you will need a Windows PC and Odin. We recommend you go with manual installation only if you are familiar with the process.

The Galaxy S21 FE is currently running on Android 14-based One UI 6.0, and the phone is eligible to get the upcoming One UI 6.1 customization. Samsung is expected to start rolling out One UI 6.1 by the end of this month with new flagship devices. It might take a couple of weeks for One UI 6.1 to reach the Galaxy S21 FE.
