The Galaxy Ring is a highly anticipated product. It marks Samsung's entry into a new category of wearable devices, one where it has the potential to overshadow all of the existing players and establish dominance. New information about the Galaxy Ring has now started to trickle in and it appears to be promising.
A spokesperson for Samsung told The Verge that the Galaxy Ring is equipped with “leading sensor technologies,” and that it will enable users to manage their health and fitness with a “comprehensive yet simplified approach” to wellness at home.
It was also mentioned that the Galaxy Ring is comfortable enough to wear 24/7. That's important as only consistent and accurate tracking of data over a longer period of time will yield the desired results of improving health and wellness for users. That's often not possible with smartwatches because even as they feature advanced sensors, most users wouldn't wear a watch all the time and also need to take it off frequently for charging.
Earlier reports from people who got to see the prototypes of the Galaxy Ring at Unpacked reveal that the device is very light and comes in three different finishes. It's also available in sizes up to 13, making it suitable for a wide variety of users. No word as yet on the technical specs or how much it's going to cost, but we'll likely get that information in the coming months.
