Just a couple of days ago, Samsung brought blood pressure monitoring and ECG features to the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 5 in India. Now, the company has brought the same feature to the Galaxy Watch 6 series because the Samsung Health Monitor app has received approval from related authorities in India.

Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic get blood pressure and ECG measurement in India

The Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic have started to get a new update in India. It brings two new features: blood pressure and ECG measurement. The update comes with firmware version R9xxFXXU1AWK4 and has a download size of around 20MB. It also includes the November 2023 security patch. If you have a Galaxy Watch 6 series smartwatch and live in India, you can check for the new update by opening the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone and navigating to Watch settings » Watch software update » Download and install.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Update ECG Blood Pressure India Changelog

The blood pressure and ECG measurement features work via the Samsung Health Monitor app, but that is only available when you pair the smartwatch with a Galaxy smartphone. While ECG works without any initiation, you need a dedicated blood pressure measurement device to calibrate the blood pressure monitoring system on the Galaxy Watch 6 series smartwatch.

Remember, the Galaxy Watch 6 is not meant to be a medical-grade device, and it can't detect or pre-empt a heart attack through the ECG feature. However, it can let you know if it finds signs of AFib (Atrial Fibrillation) through the ECG feature and warn you if it finds anything different than what it's supposed to be so that you can consult a doctor or a medical professional. You can take ECG measurements and export that data to a PDF file. You can then share it with relevant people.
