Samsung’s genius trick to make iPad users buy Galaxy Tabs might just work

The holiday season is upon us and a lot of people will be buying gifts for their loved ones. Since this is also the time of the year where you can find some really great deals, it's a no-brainer to take advantage of them and upgrade your tech as well. That's why over the past month, Samsung's online store has consistently offered the lowest prices of the year on the company's devices.

Samsung makes some of the best Android tablets in the business. There are no real competitors to its flagship Galaxy Tab S series, which now includes models like the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra that are just absolutely bonkers in the specifications and features that they provide. Last year's Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra was firmly in this category as well.

Apple's dominance of the tablet market is no secret. A lot of it has to do with the company's closed ecosystem approach. People who use an iPhone or MacBook would get the best tablet experience on an iPad, so it's natural that they'll buy what Apple's making. It's also due to the fact that there haven't been many high-end tablets that could truly be a considered as a rival to Apple's flagship iPads.

Samsung has set out to challenge this dominance with its recent revamp of Galaxy Tab S lineup. The company added a third model, the Ultra, taking the same approach that it has done with smartphones. The Ultra is the top-of-the-line model representative of the company's everything and the kitchen sink approach. On pure specs alone, the Ultra models often beat Apple's best iPad models.

However, that's obviously not going to be enough to get people to ditch their iPads. Even though a lot of Apple customers prefer staying in the walled garden, it's not uncommon for people to use devices on different platforms as well, so you could entice them to switch with the right incentives. That seems to be the strategy Samsung is going with for its tablets during this holiday shopping season.

Let's consider last year's model first. If you buy the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, Samsung is already providing an instant $380 discount, so the price comes down to just $719 instead of $1,099 before trade-in. Here's the kicker: Samsung is offering the best trade-in values for the iPad, higher than even some of its own tablets. It's a clear attempt at enticing iPad owners to switch.

For example, if you have a 5th generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro from 2021, you can get the highest trade-in value of $405 for it. Once that's deducted, your cost to buy this device is just over $300. That's a steal when you consider the fact that massive 14.6-inch display, the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset, up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, and more. It even ships with the S Pen as Samsung doesn't make you pay up to $129 separately for the stylus like Apple does with the Pencil.

If you'd much rather buy the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra instead, this maximum trade-in value for the iPad is also on offer for Samsung's latest flagship tablet. Apple doesn't even have a tablet on the market that can match many of the bonkers specs of this device. It's truly a powerful in its own right backed by Samsung's exceptional software upgrade support. Let's not forget that the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra also has an IP68 rating for water resistance.

Most people tend to change their devices after two years. Samsung's genius trick is to provide the maximum trade-in value for the 5th generation iPad Pro so that customers looking to change it find the best value on Samsung's tablets. The trade-in value Samsung is offering is higher than what you can get for this tablet at retailers like Best Buy. It's even higher than what Apple's offering in some cases!

The enhanced trade-in values for the iPad, even the other models, are on offer for different models in Samsung's tablet lineup as well. So whether you want to buy the affordable Galaxy Tab S8 or are interested in picking up a Galaxy Tab S9 FE, Samsung's online store is one of the best places to trade your old iPads in right now.

Ultimately, if you're someone who doesn't rely on apps and services exclusive to Apple for getting work done on a tablet, shifting to an Android-powered tablet isn't going to be that big of a change. It has all of the entertainment and streaming apps you'd want and additional features on Samsung's Ultra tablets that leave the iPad in the dust. That's why this genius trick that Samsung has deployed just might work.
