Samsung is the industry leader in the DRAM chip segment, and it is usually the first to introduce products based on new DRAM standards. However, it was caught off-guard when Micron and SK Hynix announced their LPDDR5T DRAM chips after the announcement of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. But it is now making amends.

Samsung revealed that it will bring an improved version of LPDDR5X DRAM in 2024

Apparently, Samsung could start the mass production of LPDDR5T DRAM chips next year. This information was divulged to investors during the South Korean firm's investor forum held in Hong Kong. The meeting was held at the Conrad Hotel in Hong Kong, and Samsung Electronics Vice President Ha-Ryong Yoon was present there to explain the company's situation and what it is working on for the future. When an investor asked about the technologies Samsung is working on for the future, the executives revealed the information about LPDDR5T DRAM.

    SK Hynix LPDDR5T RAM

While Samsung is the biggest DRAM firm globally, SK Hynix from South Korea is the firm that has been the most talked about over the past year. It pre-emptively started the mass production of LPDDR5T DRAM, which some Chinese smartphone firms have decided to use in their new flagship smartphones. its HBM memory has also been used in some Nvidia GPUs for servers. So, Samsung also announced to its investors that it will bring an upgraded version of LPDDR5X DRAM next year. In addition, it plans to bring detachable SSDs for automobiles in 2024 and GDDR7 VRAM for GPUs in 2025.

Samsung also revealed that it will bring on-device AI to smartphones. The company has already announced its in-house Generative AI model called Samsung Gauss. It will be the base of most of the new AI features that the company will announce for the Galaxy S24 series early next year.
