Good Lock racks up 100 million downloads on the Galaxy Store

Good Lock has passed 100 million downloads, Samsung revealed this week on its community forums. Since 2015, Samsung has toned down the number of software features its phones come with. Before 2015, the company had a kitchen-sink approach that made its phones extremely feature-rich but ruined their performance.

Samsung decided to change that by stripping down some of the fluff and focusing its efforts on optimization, efforts that have borne fruit. Then, in 2016, Samsung came up with Good Lock, a suite of apps that allow you to change a lot of cool things about the user interface. Good Lock was a tweaker's dream come true, and it enabled Samsung to keep the software on its phones clean while providing the option of serious customization to those who want it.

Good Lock was limited to a handful of countries for the first couple of years, but Samsung has steadily been bringing it to more and more markets. Thanks to that, the app has been downloaded more than 100 million times from the Galaxy Store.

China accounts for the highest number of Good Lock downloads

The Galaxy Store is the only app store where Good Lock is available, which makes the milestone pretty impressive. According to Samsung, the top five markets in terms of number of downloads are Korea (27%), China (21%), the USA (12%), India (7%), and Mexico (3%). That 3% for Mexico might sound too low, but that's despite Good Lock only launching in the South American country last year.

Samsung also shared some data on what kind of Good Look functionality users prefer in different countries. Indian users tend to like decoration apps like ThemePark and HomeUp while Korean users prefer convenience-enhancing apps like Sound Assistant and Quick Star. It doesn't outright say what US or Chinese users prefer but does suggest that they are less choosy and don't seem to have any particular preferences.

Unfortunately, the Good Lock team hasn't shared whether the app will be coming to more markets in the near future. Currently the company is focusing on making sure Good Lock works well with One UI 6.0 now that the official One UI 6 update has been released for some devices, so we're assuming extending availability of the app to additional markets is going to take a backseat for the time being.
