Diversification is the name of the game and Samsung's pretty good at it. There are not only sister companies in the conglomerate that Samsung Electronics can source components like batteries, chipsets, and image sensors from, but a whole host of other supplies across the globe.

Samsung SDI and China's ATL have been longstanding battery suppliers of batteries to Samsung Electronics. This crucial component has often been sourced from LG as well and it seems that Samsung Electronics will do that once again for its upcoming foldable phones.

LG back in the mix for Samsung foldable batteries

Reports out of South Korea suggest that Samsung Electronics will be sourcing batteries for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 from LG Energy Solution as well. This isn't the first time that LG is supplying batteries for these foldable phones. It has actually been doing that for the past three years.

LG Energy Solution batteries have also been sourced for other Samsung devices, including those from the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series. Many existing low-end and mid-range phones also feature LG batteries. LG joins Samsung SDI and China ATL as the battery suppliers for this year's foldable lineup.

Images of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 batteries were leaked online this week. They will be easier to replace as the batteries will be fused to the device with less glue and will also have a pull tab. This is a result of Samsung's enhanced focus on sustainability as the company aims to improve the repairability of its devices.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are due to arrive later this year, possibly in the second half.
