Samsung Display is the world's biggest manufacturer of OLED screens for smartphones and tablets. Its OLED screens are used in almost all high-end smartphones and tablets, including the iPhone 14 Pro, Galaxy S23 Ultra, Pixel 7 Pro, and the OPPO Find X6 Pro. Now, it is reported that Google is turning to Samsung Display once again for its next-generation high-end smartphones.

According to industry expert Ross Young from DSCC, Google will equip the Pixel 8 with a 6.16-inch OLED screen and the Pixel 8 Pro with a 6.7-inch OLED screen. Both OLED panels are reportedly manufactured by Samsung Display. The South Korean firm will reportedly start the mass production of OLED screens for the Pixel 8 series sometime in May 2023, which should give the company enough time to launch the smartphone before the end of this year.

What else do we know about Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro?

While no information has been released regarding the OLED panel specifications for the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro, we expect the former to feature Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz/120Hz refresh rate. The latter might have a QHD+ resolution display and a 120Hz refresh rate. Both panels could have Gorilla Glass Victus protection and an in-display fingerprint reader.

Both upcoming Pixel smartphones are expected to feature the Tensor G3 chipset that's largely based on the Exynos 2300 chipset that Samsung could introduce sometime later this year. It is reportedly based on a 4nm process and features a Cortex-X3 CPU core, four Cortex-A715 CPU cores, and three Cortex-A510 CPU cores. It could also be the first Tensor chip with the AMD RDNA2-based Xclipse 930 GPU.
