Samsung is the world's second-biggest smartphone camera sensor brand. Its cameras are used by almost all smartphone brands, including Honor, Motorola, Nokia, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Vivo, and Xiaomi. It was rumored earlier this year that it might release a 200MP camera sensor (ISOCELL S5KGND), but there was no information about its launch time frame until now.

Tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) claims that Samsung will launch its first 200MP ISOCELL camera sensor in September 2021. That's just one month away. Moreover, he also claims that the South Korean firm will launch a new 50MP camera sensor with an RGBW sub-pixel layout. Another tipster reiterated that the upcoming 50MP camera sensor will be used in the Galaxy S22 series.

This is not the first time when a 50MP sensor is being associated with the Galaxy S22 series, though. Last month, it was reported that the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22+ will use a new ISOCELL 50MP sensor for the primary camera. The smartphones could feature a 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus and a 12MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

Conventional camera sensors feature red, green, and blue sub-pixels. An RGBW sensor has a white sub-pixel as well, which should theoretically offer improved highlight rendition in high-contrast scenes. Combined with the larger sensor and the white sub-pixel, the Galaxy S22 should offer improved image and video quality even in challenging situations.

It was rumored earlier that Samsung might collaborate with Olympus for a 200MP camera sensor in the Galaxy S22 Ultra. However, the rumor was later dismissed by some industry insiders. Ice Universe had mentioned last month that Samsung will not use a 200MP sensor in the Galaxy S22 Ultra and that the phone will instead come with the company's 108MP ISOCELL HM3 sensor with some enhancements.
