After unveiling its new Odyssey gaming monitor lineup during CES 2020, Samsung started taking pre-orders for the Odyssey G7 and the Odyssey G9 monitors in the US and listed the Odyssey G7 on its South Korean website. Now, the company has announced that it has launched the Odyssey G9 gaming monitor globally. In Korea, the Odyssey G9 is priced at KRW 1.9 million (around $1,600), while its European pricing is €1,499.

The Odyssey G9 is the world's first gaming monitor with a dual-QHD resolution, Nvidia G-Sync, and 1000R curvature. It is also the world's first monitor to support HDR10+, thanks to its QLED panel with DisplayHDR 1000 certification. The new premium gaming monitor also won the CES 2020 Innovation Award in the Computer Peripherals and Accessories category due to its innovative curved design.

Samsung's newest flagship gaming monitor has a 49-inch curved QLED screen with 5120×1440 resolution (32:9 aspect ratio), a 240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, 1000 nits peak brightness, and can cover 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. It is compatible with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync. The monitor's stand supports rotation, swiveling, and tilting functions, and has a 100×100 VESA mount.

The Odyssey G9 has two DisplayPort 1.4 ports, one HDMI 2.0 port, three USB 3.0 ports (one up, two down), and a headphone port. Gamers get access to features like Black Equalizer and Virtual Aim Point. It is also the first monitor in the industry to receive TÜV Rheinland's best rating for high performance 1000R Curved Display and Eye Comfort certification.

The monitor comes in the Glossy White color and has the Infinity Core lighting area at the rear that supports 52 colors and five lighting effects for all the RGB goodness that gamers love. It features various gaming modes, including AOS, Cinema, Custom, DCR, FPS, RPG, and RTS.

Hyesung Ha, SVP of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said, “Following our recent announcement of the Odyssey G7 curved gaming monitor, the G9 now joins the portfolio as the first dual QHD gaming monitor with 1000R curvature. This further solidifies Samsung's leadership in the global gaming monitor market, with innovation happening at an unprecedented rate. Samsung's Odyssey G9 curved gaming monitor takes immersive gaming to the next level, giving any gamer the upper hand.”
