Samsung Galaxy S26
After offering 45W charging on its Galaxy S Ultra phones for six generations, Samsung finally upgraded the figure to 60W with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, charging speeds on the base Galaxy S models have remained unchanged for the past seven generations. Unfortunately, that may not change with the Galaxy S27 series either.
A listing for Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S27 has been spotted on UL Solutions (via TheTechOutlook). It reveals that the phone will support 25W charging, the same speed offered by its seven predecessors. This could disappoint many prospective buyers, especially considering that Chinese smartphone brands offer two or even three times faster charging speeds.
The Galaxy S27 Ultra, on the other hand, is expected to charge faster than its predecessor, which already offers considerably faster charging than the base model. However, the reported improvement is said to be relatively modest.
The Galaxy S26 offers one of the best power efficiencies among the flagship phones from major brands, partly thanks to the Exynos 2600 chipset. The Galaxy S27 is expected to feature the Exynos 2700, which should be even more energy-efficient. This could help the phone last longer on a single charge. Hopefully, improved battery life will help make up for the gap in charging speeds compared to rival phones.
