Generally, Samsung's rollout of Android Pie has been quite smooth, but it has hit a bump with the Galaxy A7 (2018) in the Netherlands. The update makes regular phone calls impossible. The update has been pulled, awaiting a structural solution.

Galaxy A7 update to Android Pie pulled in the Netherlands

Samsung has managed to offer Android 9 Pie and its new One UI to 2018's A series earlier than originally predicted. And where haste is made, bugs are bound to surface. In the Netherlands, Galaxy A7 users running firmware version A750FNXXU1BSC4 report major issues making phone calls. It appears that in quite a few cases the caller cannot be heard, as Galaxy Club reports.

Samsung has been made aware of the issue and has now pulled the firmware from its servers, though this only appears to be the case in the Netherlands. In other countries, where the bug does not seem to affect devices, the same firmware remains available.

Dutch users who did not yet install the new firmware have to wait until a solution is available before they can upgrade their Galaxy A7 to Android Pie. Users who already installed the updated can temporarily bypass the issue by disabling VoLTE calls. You can do so by going into Settings » Connections » Mobile networks, and switching off VoLTE calls.

Have you experienced similar issues on your Galaxy A7 outside the Netherlands? Drop a comment below, so we too can keep an eye on this annoying little bug.

Grab cleaner screenshots with your Galaxy device

Samsung made it as easy as pie for Galaxy phone and tablet users to grab screenshots and screen recordings. By default, One UI users can capture screenshots on Galaxy devices by pressing the volume down and power buttons simultaneously, but as you may know, there are also ways to grab screenshots through gestures, a quick […]

Got a new Galaxy S24 case and screen protector? Don’t forget these One UI settings

Imagine this: You just bought a new Galaxy S24, and to keep it safe from damage and screen scratches, you wrapped it up in a case and put a screen protector on it. Fantastic! Save for the fact that, now, haptic feedback barely feels like it's there, and the touchscreen isn't very responsive. If this […]

Galaxy S24 display too bright at night? Try these tricks

Samsung's new Dynamic AMOLED 2X screens for the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra are fantastic in our experience, providing superior image quality, colors, contrast, and brightness levels in all lighting conditions. On the other hand, some users might feel like the Galaxy S24's screens are a little bit too bright, particularly in dark environments. […]

Samsung’s Modes and Routines is sorely lacking device ecosystem features

I've been a fan of Samsung's Modes and Routines tool for years, but the feeling that it could use a few more options never went away. In fact, as my Samsung device ecosystem expanded, that feeling became more prominent. Granted, you can create plenty of fun and useful automations when you pair a Samsung smart […]

Samsung better not remove Notification Categories in One UI!

Samsung better not remove Notification Categories in One UI!

The Notification Categories feature is among the most useful and well-integrated One UI elements. I'd go as far as to say it's probably underrated, but that doesn't really bother me as long as the feature exists and remains a part of One UI. To be frank, the thought that Samsung might be preparing to remove […]
