Samsung to release the Android 8.0 Oreo update in Turkey in early 2018

Home / News / Samsung to release the Android 8.0 Oreo update in Turkey in early 2018

Samsung’s Turkish subsidiary is aiming to start rolling out the much-anticipated Android 8.0 Oreo update in Turkey at the beginning of 2018, according to a post published on Guncelmiyiz, the firm’s local update portal.

While we don’t know exactly what smartphones—and tablets—will receive the upgrade in the region, it’s safe to assume that the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8 will be among the first, closely followed by the Galaxy S7.

As this is Samsung we’re talking about, we wouldn’t recommend fixating on the early 2018 release date, but nevertheless, having confirmation it’s actively developing the firmware for use on its devices is certainly reassuring.

For those unaware, Android 8.0 Oreo bundles a number of long-awaited features, including support for Program-in-Picture (PiP), notification channels, adaptive icons and circular emoji, as well as a number of bug fixes.

This was expected, really. Knowing Samsung, it is very easy to predict how the upgrade process will be: ► The Galaxies S8, S8 + and Note 8 receive in the first quarter ► The Galaxies S8 Active, Note FE, S7, S7 Edge and Tab S3 receive in the second quarter ► The Galaxies S7 Active, A7 2018, A5 2018, A7 2017, Tab A 8.0 (2017) and Tab S2 VE will receive at the beginning of the third quarter ► The Galaxies A3 2018, A5 2017, J7 2018 and J5 2018 will receive at the end of the third quarter ►… Read more »

That’s so pretty quick, just in line for Samsung. Flagship software for flagship devices, light years behind the schedule.

The S8 will get it first. As has been the case for many years with the S line and then the Note8. The S7 will follow after the Note8.

I still do not understand why it takes Samsung or any company for that matter so long to get these things out. The beta runs for months and to me it seems that they do not actually even bother to start looking at it until the final release. There is really NO excuse for not being on the ball with the releases and get them out within weeks of the official release. I do appreciate that there is lots of stuff baked into android on our devices but they do have plenty of time to work with it prior to… Read more »

Sonys beta started at Oct. 04. so they did not spend much time für testing- While Samsungs beta even didn´t started yet and will take almost 2 month

But it’s easier for Sony as they only sold eleven phones this year. Lol.

Because Sony doesn’t bring lots of new features when they update to a newer Android. You get the new updated Camera app as well as the features that come with Oreo. Samsung on the other hand, they will add features with Oreo more than what Oreo brings, you will probably see features that will come with Android P. (Just like always)
