Newly leaked Galaxy Note 8 image shows the position of the fingerprint reader

Samsung’s next S Pen-toting phablet is expected to be launched by the end of August, and we’ve been noticing a steady flow of leaks showcasing its possible design, features, and specifications. However, with just a couple of months to go before the official unveiling, the Galaxy Note 8 leak floodgates have opened, and we’re finally getting to see more legible information regarding the device.

Earlier today, we reported about leaked 3D CAD renders of the Galaxy Note 8, and now an additional 3D CAD image has surfaced. The image has been published by BGR, and the publication mentions that the image comes directly from the factory that is tasked with building the new phone. The image showcases the placement of the dual-camera setup along with the location of the fingerprint reader.

The positioning of the fingerprint reader on the Galaxy S8 and S8+ has been criticized by a lot of users and experts, but it seems that Samsung has decided to continue with a rear-facing fingerprint reader. However, there’s now more separation between the camera sensor and the fingerprint reader. But that also means that it will be even harder to reach without repositioning your palm.

Other than that, we can see a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, a loudspeaker, the primary microphone, and the S Pen slot at the bottom of the phone. There’s a Galaxy S8-like volume rocker and Bixby button combo on the left side of the Galaxy Note 8 as well as a curved back. We’re not sure if the phone has stereo speakers as some leaks and reports mentioned.

The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to feature a 6.3-inch QHD+ Infinity Display, a 12-megapixel optically stabalized dual-camera setup with dual-pixel phase detection autofocus and 4K video recording, Exynos 8895 processor, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot. The phone is rumored to pack in a smaller 3300 mAh battery in spite of a slightly larger display. It is expected to be launched sometime in September with a $1000 price tag.

Based on the rumours, the Note 4 is _still_ the greatest Note by far. I don’t think Samsung knows how to top that legendary phone (and I’m not talking about replaceable batteries and so on). They new Note-series is just a S-series with a stylus. The Note 4 was the best phone money could buy at the time, and it still is the greatest Note known to mankind.

Samsung need to be careful as they’re feeling too confident about their Note 8. A lot of people will be waiting to see if they’re safe devices so placing $1000 price tag for a start is very brave.

Still cannot see the justification of the $1000 price tag.
For that price. I’m expecting 4K HDR video capture. 4K at 60fps. 1080p at 240fps. And a display to match.
A faster more reliable Iris scanner with learning technology, able to detect eyes with device horizontal as well.
6GB RAM (BIXBY takes up A LOT for 4GB)
Pressure sensitive display and S Pen. Not jus the home button.
I can live with a rear mounted fingerprint scanner, but there needs to be a drastically improved camera. In good lighting conditions. My 16MP S6 edge+ performs better

The Note 8 will bomb (no pun intended) compared to the iphone 8, if all leaks are true.
If Samsung can’t put the fingerscanner under the display like Apple can, then atleast place the fingerscanner underneath the camera.

This looks like a toy…..I hope Samsung will make Note 8 as per its code name “Great”..We do not need just a cellphone,we need a surprise or at least a phone very close to our expectations..
I wonder why they dont focus on battery timing..3300mAh is very less..It should be between 3700mAh to 3900mAh to meet with the requirements of Fans..

I feel exactly the same! I had S3, S4, S5, now S7 (sure, the flat one) but… consindering swithing to anything else because of that stupid Samsung move to force me use curved screens, and now more than that… rounded screen corners… Bleah!

They should separate Camera and Fingerprint/HR readers …

The more leaks that come out the more disappointed I am.

I found the location of the fingerprint scanner on the S8 a deal breaker and returned it and Samsung is doing pretty much the same thing with the Note 8?

Would it have killed them to place the fingerprint scanner lower towards the middle of the phone?

Totally agree with you. Very disappointed indeed.

This is more believable than the OnLeaks 3D render, because the camera is flush to the body of the device. This design of the camera / flash / scanner placement isn’t ugly if correctly textured and colored, but it will look hideous with a bump like shown in the 3D render. Of course people will complain about reachability once again, since it’s so high up on a huge phone. I’m still having extreme difficulty believing that the top bezel will actually increase in size from the S8, why would they do it? What is the reason for it? They could… Read more »

I think I will give myself few extra months so the price could drop a little.

And actually todays leaks made me less anxious about Note 8…
