Samsung rolls out an update in Korea for Galaxy S8’s red tint problem

Some Galaxy S8 and S8+ owners were complaining about a “reddish” tint on their smartphone’s display, and Samsung had said that it would fix the problem with a software update. It now appears that the company has rolled out a software update that offers users with options to adjust the screen’s color temperature.

Samsung has started rolling out a software update for the Galaxy S8 (SM-G950N) and S8+ in Korea (SM-G955N). The update (with firmware version G950NKSU1AQDG or G950NKSU1AQDG) provides an additional setting in the Adaptive Display screen mode where users can adjust the ‘full screen color balance’ as per their personal preferences.

There’s also a new option – Screen Edge Color Balance – under the Screen Mode menu. It can be used to adjust the colors at the edges of the display to change the appearance of white tones on the Galaxy S8 and S8+.

Note: The company might release this update to other markets in the coming days, but we currently don’t know an accurate time frame.

Thanks for the tip, Henk!

update is also out in UAE and GCC, been using it and it honestly doesnt do much, it restarts your phone several times to apply the update and makes no real difference

I hope you can use this with “basic” screen mode and not only with the “adaptive display” mode. It’s stupid that I have to use adaptive display when I want to change the color balance or use the bluelight filter.

Yet again, it looks like that will still not be possible… You would think that it would be the other way around. The whole point of adaptive display is for the phone to automatically adjust based on the content being played. Allowing us to adjust the mode that’s supposed to be automatic but not allow us to adjust the static modes is just nuts to me. That being said, it’s really nice to see them include an “edge color balance” adjustment. My phone looks pink around the edges only. And many S8s that I’ve seen look the same way.
