At the Consumer Electronics Show 2016 earlier this month Samsung unveiled two new editions of the Gear S2 Classic, one finished in 18K Rose Gold and the other in Platinum. As far as specifications or features go there’s nothing different about the Gear S2 Classic New Edition when compared to the Gear S2 Classic that has already been available for a few months now. Samsung has announced today that it’s now launching the Gear S2 Classic New Edition globally with China being the first country in which the two new editions are being released, the company does say that these units will be released in more countries across the globe later this year, an online retailer in The Netherlands is already taking pre-orders for the Gear S2 Classic in 18K Rose Gold and Platinum.

The 18K Rose Gold edition features 18K rose gold plating and is paired with an Ivory Genuine Leather Band whereas the Platinum edition features a platinum finish and is sold with a Black Genuine Leather Band. Samsung has also released some new stylish watch faces that feature Peanut characters and artwork by the likes of Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. The company continues to work with developers to bring more apps to its smartwatch, some new additions include official CNN, Bloomberg, eBay and Uber apps for the Gear S2. Pricing and availability for the Gear S2 Classic New Edition will vary by market.
