Samsung Galaxy S4 price drops to INR 17,999 on Amazon India

The Galaxy S4 is almost two years old at this point, but Indian consumers might just find good reason to purchase the device as Amazon India is currently selling it for just INR 17,999 ($290). Both the white version and the Black Edition are included in the offer – those who need a refresher, the Black Edition is basically a Galaxy S4 with a faux leather back instead of the plastic one on the standard variant.

The Galaxy S4 recently started receiving the Android 5.0 update in India, so in terms of software, the device is running the latest and greatest (though the Black Edition might not get the update so quickly). As far as the hardware is concerned, you get a 5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, a 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, and a 2,600mAh battery.

There’s no fingerprint or heart rate sensor on-board here, but for the price tag currently attached to the phone, it’s possibly one of the best deals ever for a Samsung smartphone in India.

Why would anyone want the S5 after the much better S6 comes out?

I mean, the S4 is a huge improvement over the S3, but the S5 isn’t that over the S4.

Well, maybe because not everyone can afford a brand new 700 euro device?

I bought mine a year ago when the Galaxy s5 was released in the Netherlands. Samsung had a cashback promotion in which they returned 100 euro when buying the Galaxy s4 (black edition included!). So in the end it was just 310 euro!
So for the ones who might want to buy a Galaxy s5. Wait until the s6 is released and hope for a casback promotion!
