Introduction
The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is a limited-edition device that was launched only in South Korea. A version of it was also launched in China, but it has a slightly different rear design and is called the W25. The Z Fold Special Edition brought changes that people have been requesting.
It has wider screens, a thinner body, and a better camera setup. However, it misses out on the S Pen. You can watch its design in our video below.
For the rest of the things, the phone borrows heavily from the Galaxy Z Fold 6 that was launched in mid-2024.
Design and display
The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition has an Armor Aluminum frame, and the phone is covered by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front (folded) and the rear. It has an IP48 rating for resistance against water and thicker solid materials like gravel.
When folded, the phone has a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen with Full HD+ resolution (2,520 x 1,080 pixels). When it is unfolded, it reveals an 8-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen with QHD+ resolution (2,184 x 1,968 pixels). The foldable screen is protected using Ultra Flexible Glass (UFG).

The phone has the same sharper corners seen on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Specifications
Samsung equipped the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy processor. It has 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. It doesn't have a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
On the front, the phone has a 10MP selfie camera on the cover screen. On the inner screen, the phone has a 4MP selfie camera.
On the rear, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition has a 200MP primary rear camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, and a 10MP telephoto camera (with 3x optical zoom) and OIS.
The phone can record 8K 30fps videos using its primary camera. The primary selfie, telephoto, and ultrawide cameras can record up to 4K 60fps videos. The 4MP selfie camera can record up to 1080p videos.
Samsung has fitted the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition with a 4,400mAh battery. It supports up to 25W fast wired charging, 15W fast wireless charging (Qi), and 4.5W Wireless PowerShare.
Software and features
The device launched with Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1 out of the box. It will get seven major Android OS updates and security updates for seven years.
It comes with several Galaxy AI features, including Composer, Generative Wallpapers, Live Translate, Portrait Studio, and Sketch to Image.
Availability and price
The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition launched on October 25, 2024, with a price tag of KRW 2,789,600 (~$2,036) for its single variant. It is higher than the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It will only be available in one color: Black Shadow.
