The Galaxy S24 FE will boast a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen. That's larger than all previous modes, which had 6.5-inch (S20 FE) and 6.4-inch (S21 FE, S23 FE) panels.
The more I think about it, the more I believe this to be a fantastic move on Samsung's part. Here's why.
I don't subscribe to the idea that all people on a budget want compact phones. It just so happens that smaller phones are usually cheaper and these two characteristics overlap. If you ask me, this is why a larger chunk of Galaxy S24 series buyers have gravitated toward the base model instead of the Galaxy S24+.
I believe most of these customers chose the base variant because it is smaller than the S24+. Granted, some people wanted a smaller phone. But even so, I think the price is a bigger factor than size in this case.
Now, we can probably all agree that Fan Edition phones should always be cheaper than base flagship Galaxy S models. And one of the good things about FE phones is that their displays are sized somewhere in between the standard and Plus Galaxy S variants.
However, once again, I don't believe the majority of people bought Fan Edition phones because of their in-between screen size. I'd be willing to wager that they picked an FE device because it was a cheaper alternative to the full-fledged Galaxy S.
That being said, I'm inclined to believe that most people who bought a base Galaxy S or a Fan Edition device would not refuse a bigger screen if they could get one without spending extra.
That's why I really think that giving the Galaxy S24 FE a bigger 6.7-inch display—same as the Galaxy S24+—is a fantastic idea. At least as long as it doesn't disturb the pricing hierarchy and the FE model maintains a fair price gap with the base Galaxy S24.

More leaked data suggests the S24 FE's 6.7-inch display will have a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,900 nits peak brightness. All in all, I have high hopes that the upcoming Fan Edition phone will be a hit. I think it has the potential to become the best FE phone to date, assuming Samsung doesn't mess up pricing.
If previous Fan Edition phones were a mix between the more expensive base and Plus models size-wise, the Galaxy S24 FE might become a fantastic cheap(er) alternative to the Galaxy S24+, which I am a big fan of. As long as Samsung prices the Galaxy S24 FE right, I believe it's going to be a hit. Otherwise, I'd hate to see such a fantastic opportunity to create an unbeatable value king go to waste.
If Samsung could also provide seven major OS upgrades, the Galaxy S24 FE would become truly a legendary phone. And likely one of the best Samsung devices for 2024.
